Safety is a top priority for many people when shopping for a new car. If safety is important to you, you want the best you can get. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety routinely tests new vehicles for their crashworthiness and the Top Safety Pick+ rating is the best a vehicle can get. Recently, the 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer earned that top rating.
Top Safety Pick
The Trailblazer achieved the top “Good” rating in all six crashworthiness tests. These include a small overlap front test for both the driver and passenger side, a side crash test, and a roof strength test. IIHS also tests the head restraints and seats.
Making the Trailblazer even safer is its crash avoidance systems. All models come standard with forward collision mitigation. IIHS gave this system a “Superior” rating. A vehicle-to-pedestrian front crash prevention system is also standard. It earned an “Advanced” rating. Also standard on the Trailblazer is a lane keeping assist system that under proper conditions gently steers the vehicle back into its lane if it starts to drift.
Headlights also play an important role in vehicle safety. Depending on the Trailblazer trim, its headlights are rated either “Good” or “Acceptable.”
The available Driver Confidence package adds more security with blind-spot monitoring, rear parking sensors, and rear cross-traffic alert.
