There are plenty of opportunities for you to get into the holiday spirit in Lincoln, Decatur and Springfield, Illinois. Check out these local holiday celebrations, which offer fun activities for the whole family to enjoy.
Springfield Christmas Holiday Lights Parade
Since 1972, Springfield has been hosting a fantastic parade with great floats and marching bands. This year, the parade takes place on Dec. 7 and starts at 5:30 p.m. Be sure to snag your spot early to have a great view as the parade moves through the downtown area.
Staley Museum Christmas Open House
On Dec. 18, the Staley Museum in Decatur is having an open house, complete with music, cider and delicious cookies. The event, which occurs during 5-8 p.m., celebrates the community for donating non-perishable food items to the Salvation Army.
Christmas Bazaar and Breakfast
At the Carroll Catholic School in Lincoln, there will be a Christmas Bazaar and Breakfast between 7:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on Dec. 8. You can dine on egg casserole, scrambled eggs and cinnamon rolls. If you bring a new and unwrapped toy to donate to Toys for Tots, you can also get a free raffle ticket.
