Matthiessen State Park is a gorgeous area tucked away in LaSalle County, about four miles away from Utica. The park is known for its breathtaking foliage, awe-inspiring geological formations, and plentiful wildlife.
If you travel to Matthiessen State Park this fall, you can enjoy the lovely trees, go horseback riding, drive a mountain bike, indulge in archery, or walk along one of the park’s several hiking trails. The park has a total of 5 miles of hiking paths, 6 miles of cross-country ski trails, and 9 miles of trails for both horseback riding and mountain biking.
If one day of exploring the park isn’t enough, Matthiessen State Park has a campground specifically for horseback riders with very reasonable nightly rates. A number of picnic sites and playgrounds are also available to round out your visit.
